Mi Jam Drummer allows you to play along

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

It has been over a year since we covered any mi Jam products from the B2 company, so I say it is high time we covered something by them. One of their most recent products is the mi Jam Drummer.

I suppose this product would probably best be suited for children, or for anyone at any age who aspires to be a drummer. Simply put, this device hooks up with a digital music device, stereo, personal computer, ipod, or any other Portable Media Player to allow the user to be the drummer.

The mi Jam Drummer has two modes: interactive and standalone. Standalone allows the user to plug into the miJam to the external speaker or earphone, and he or she can simulate a full drum kit including a snare drum, tom toms, bass, hi-hat, even cymbals. There are even some newly added keys that allow the drummer to add roll effects. The interactive mode allows for the user to play the music, and the user can drum along with the sound.

The best part about the mi Jam drummer is it can be used with the user’s stereo speakers or personal headphones. The personal headphones mode means that parents can be oblivious to their son or daughter’s drumming, and the silent home leads to fewer headaches for mom and dad.

You should be able to pick up the mi Jam Drummer for about $25 at retail and online stores everywhere.

AT&T adds two international data plans for iPhone, still pricey

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

by Chris Ziegler, posted Aug 26th 2008 at 11:52AMFollowing new plans geared to the decidedly less fruity phones in AT&T’s lineup earlier this month, the carrier has announced a pair of international data packages geared specifically toward the iPhone and iphone 3G. The bad news is that they still cost more than the average subscriber’s entire monthly bill; the good news, though, is that they should still manage to save globetrotters a buck or two (or a thousand) who insist on keeping data roaming enabled while out in the field. 100MB of global data is going to set you back $119.99 on top of your regular package, while 200MB runs $199.99 — certainly not enough to go crazy in the App Store, but probably enough of a meager allowance to take care of email and stay on the grid. The new plans are available starting tomorrow.

Albatron Tee PC tablet style netbook is ready for work

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

When I first heard the word “Albatron”, I got it mixed up with the major grocer Albertsons, and couldn’t help but think of their motto: “It’s your store”.  Now, after looking at the Albatron Tee PC, I can’t help but think Albatron’s motto should be: “It should be my PC”.

The Albatron Tee PC is essentially a tablet pc in the form of a netbook.  It has a 7-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 800 x 480.  It also has an ARM926 400MHz processor as well as 128MB of flash memory.  If you want any more memory, you can always use the included SD memory card slot.

The Albatron is ready to go with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options and has a 1.3-megapixel webcam.  The user also has the option of inserting it into a docking station that will equip it with USB ports, audio ports and integrated speakers.

We have no word on the pricing, availability date, or where it will be available.  However, I would be willing to put down a few hundred dollars on this, as I can think of some good mobile uses for it.

Canon intro’s the SELPHY ES3, ES30 compact photo printers

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Canon has added two new photo printers to its SELPHY line, the ES3 and ES30. Both photo printers stand out from the rest of the SELPHY printer models because of the advanced editing and customization features which Canon has included in both. These include advancements to the frame, clip art and calendar functions of the two printers. But more significantly, the SELPHY ES3 boasts of a new feature which Canon has never done before with any of its previous SELPHY printers, and that is the inclusion of 1GB of internal flash memory.

For both printers’ clip art function, a total of 47 new frame templates have been added to the SELPHY ES3 and 18 on the ES30. Parents should definitely enjoy using these frame templates when printing photos of their kids. Likewise, the number of layouts for the printers’ calendar function has also been increased to 12 with 6 different types of background colors to go along with the calendar. Other features of these two printers include an Easy Scroll Wheel, a 3.5-inch LCD display for the ES3 and 3-inch high-res LCD display for the ES30 and a useful image optimizer function,

Finally, the weird shape of these two printers were not made for nothing. Canon envisioned these printers to be as portable as possible, hence the presence of a carrying handle to help users bring the printers anywhere they want. The Canon SELPHY ES3 and SELPHY ES30 Compact Photo Printers will set you back $199.99 and $149.99 respectively.
