podXtreme small but packs a punch

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

The podXtreme might be small in stature but it boasts more than enough wattage to pump out a stunning audio performance no matter where you are.

No one will suspect that you hold the power to fill an entire room with sound in your pocket. When you pull the podXtreme out for the first time, people might even chuckle. But when they stumble back from the powerful sound this mighty speaker projects, you might just find yourself smiling at their amazement. No other speaker on the market packs such a punch in such a small unit. The secret resonation provides the podXtreme with such a powerful bass boost that you’re going to need to pimp out your ipod or mp3 player. Operating the same way as a quality sub-woofer, the secret resonator helps to elongate your sound through the expanded tunnel, creating a deeper bass and richer sound.

Never judge a book by its cover, my friends. The same principal can be applied to the podXtreme as well. You can pick one up for $9.45.

The Birds Nest USB Speaker

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Since the Olympics have began there have been several Birds Nest inspired gadgetry.  Frankly, all of them look a bit cheesy.  This new one is a USB speaker to keep your music going no matter where you’re at.  I’m sure the actual full-size Olympic version of this is much more interesting and attractive, but the gadgets just haven’t been.  Notice how I said I’m sure, which just goes to show how much I pay attention to the Olympics.  I’m not sure I’d even know they were going on if several different gadget sites didn’t occasionally post that one of the girls in the Olympics had done something drool-worthy.

So those that are really into the Olympics might get into this gadget a bit more than those like me that keep away from sports like they’re the black plague.  The USB speaker doesn’t have a lot in the way of speccs, but it does have the usual.  It works with all types of MP3 players, iPhones and iPods.  It is a cheap speaker so it’s not going to have stellar sound quality, but it works.  It’s being sold for $12 and comes in either black or silver.

I’m scared - driving while watching iPhone video projected on windshield

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Okay, we all multi-task to some degree while driving. I have a GPS mounted on my windshield, for instance, though I don’t play around with the settings while driving. And we all know people who text on their cell phones from behind the wheel (don’t do it!). But today, I saw this on bookofjoe:

Rogers makes the BlackBerry Bold official, available August 21

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

It was a launch that at times seemed like it was never going to happen, and now that it has officially been confirmed by Rogers, potential customers have just about 24 hours left to wait before they are able to purchase a blackberry Bold of their own.

Sadly Rogers has not released any pricing details, I guess they are intent on making everyone wait to the very last minute for everything. However, according to RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie it will be priced between $300 and $400 and will be aimed at business users, which seems to fit in nicely with the rumored price of $399. Of course, I can imagine most potential customers are hoping it will come in a little less expensive, possibly something a little closer to the pricing of the 16GB iphone.

Now we just have to wait for AT&T to finally gets things in order and release the Bold for the rest of us here in the US, which hopefully will not be that much longer.

Microsoft Windows… Literally

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Take a look out the closest window to you right now. What do you see? Odds are that it looks nothing like your PC’s desktop, unless you took a picture of the scenery yourself and placed it as the desktop design manually. How would you like to make Microsoft Windows a more aptly literal translation of the word itself?

Designed by John Nouanesing, the Fenestra 3.1 Window replicates the background of your Windows Microsoft machine. Microsoft, where everyday is a sunny day! While Nouanesing might be a little behind in the times with this design, he promises an XP (still behind) version is on its way.

For now, these Fanestra Windows are still in the conceptual stage, but the designer promises that by the end of the year they will be available for purchase from his website. No word yet if there will be a similar blue screen version, which sadly enough, would make sense.
