Panasonic launches 64GB P2 card, AJ-PCD35 ExpressCard adapter

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

by Darren Murph, posted Apr 14th 2008 at 1:30PMNow that you’re already penning a purchase requisition for one of those fancy new P2 HD camcorders, you might as well toss a couple of Panny’s new 64GB P2 cards (model AJ-P2C064) and its AJ-PCD35 ExpressCard adapter on there, too. Yep, Panasonic has chosen NAB Show 2008 to double up on its current 32GB P2 card and to introduce a five-slot P2 memory drive with an ExpressCard interface. Put simply, the latter can hold all five cards from a fully-loaded VariCam 2700 / 3700 camcorder (or any other P2 rig) and give users the ability to upload content on the go with their ExpressCard-equipped laptop. Regrettably, the company didn’t bother doling out dollar figures just yet, but we’d go ahead and file ‘em both under “expensive.”

Sony Ericsson Z780 info leaked

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

According to Sony Ericsson Blog, a clamshell type Sony Ericsson Z780 is currently in the works, to feature a similar build and feel to the Z770i. The specs of this handset are not yet clear right now but the screen is purportedly going to be a QVGA (240×320 pixels), it will have a built-in browser called NetFront 3.4, and will be available in two colors: Amethyst Silver and Grand Onyx. All this and other interesting insider info can be found at the XML profiles from SE’s web site, which is free for anyone to access, just like the one I located for the Motorola ZN5. There is currently no information regarding release dates, if any, but we’ll be sure to keep you update once the info becomes available.

To start with, there are 5 choices of Intel Centrino processors, more specifically a Core 2 Duo T7500, or T7700, and other models such as the T8100, T8300, and T9300 - with the only difference for each group being the nanometer number. As for the RAM memory, it can go up to 4GB. Other specifications include a 17-inch LCD display with a built-in web camera, support for dual drives, optional Blu-Ray drive, Wi-Fi, and lastly, two security solutions: fingerprint reader, and facial recognition that works with the webcam.

iriver E100 now shipping in the US

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Since it already went on sale in Europe about two weeks ago, the iriver E100’s availability now in the US comes as no surprise. And as expected, it’s still going to be its original, 2.4-inch QVGA screen touting, MP3, WMA file format playing, FM tuner and stereo speaker endowed PMP, which is to say that it’s pretty basic. You can get the 4GB version for $110, while the 8GB model is billed at $160, only $50 more. So if you’re new to the PMP biz or just like to pretend that you’ve never heard of the ipod, you can go ahead and grab one of these from Amazon.com.

TwitLinks launched, becomes unofficial Techmeme of Twitter

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

If you’ve ever tried to follow the Twitter updates of more than one person, you’ll appreciate what TwitLinks has set out here to do. Using advanced alien-technology (or maybe RSS feed updates, I’m not sure), Twitlinks gathers all the most recent Twitter updates of leading tech industry pundits and arranges them in the fashion of a blog, with updated links to the latest industry news as well.

TwitLinks creator Gary Brewer said the idea for TwitLinks was born out of his interest in “the links that people [he] didn’t know personally published over their individual twitters.” So basically, he’s trying to organize the latest and most useful twitters in the tech industry, much like how Techmeme tries to organize breaking technology news.

Now, while no one may be able to say just how well this new service will perform in the long run, at least we have one more tool to run to as we cover the ever-growing tech industry and everything happening inside it. But you can bet it’s going to be big; it may have only yours and my attention now, but with a little more time it could take on the whole world too. Who knows?

E-light - Entertainment Light

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Gadgets made for the Apple player are always popping up, that is why Coolest gadgets has over 250 posts on the iPod Gadgets category, right? This special light is just another item on that big list, but at least it is original and has useful functions.

Priced at $100, the Entertainment Light is also known as E-light and can be used indoors, or outdoors. If you pick the outside, consider using it with an umbrella pole, but if chose the inside (of your house) just use it “normally”.

So, why is the E-light so special? Because it is a cordless light that can be easily recharged, but that is not all… Since it has a headphone jack, you can connect almost any kind of audio source, be it a ipod, other MP3 players, CD player, stereo system, etc. Obviously, it comes with speakers so you can listen to the music.

Another feature that makes it unusual, is the inclusion of six powerful LED lights, that will create a “glowing” effect on the table/spot where it is placed.

As for the battery life, it seems to be rather good: 12 hours when working separately with the light/sound functions, or 6 hours if both features work together.

Product Page

PS - it works with 4 AA NiMH batteries.
