Sony announces PS-LX300USB USB turntable, ready to fight next format war against 8-track

Apparently Sony found out they just don’t make ‘em like they used to and whipped up a belt-driven USB turntable: the PS-LX300USB. It’ll export your 33s and 45s through Sound Forge Audio Studio (bundled) and has its own pre-amp, but Sony, you’re living in the past, man. It’ll go for $150 next month — just sell off a Northern soul single or two to cover costs.

Apple is turning green, offers free mobile phone recycling

Apple is now allowing anyone to recycle their no-longer-used mobile phone for free. Simply bring your mobile phone into any Apple retail location or complete the process online and ship the phone in. The phone recycling program will allow any brand phone to be turned in with no charge to the person, Apple will even pay the shipping costs for those being mailed in.

In addition to phone recycling, Apple will also accept any iPod for recycling. The ipod program is also free free, similar to the setup for the mobile phones. There is a program for CPU recycling, but in order to have your old computer or monitor recycled you have to purchase a new computer or monitor from Apple.

Bluetrek intro’s the BIZZ; Bluetooth headset with microSD storage

Bluetrek first unveiled the BIZZ during CES 2008, but just recently announced it was available for sale. The BIZZ may look like just another Bluetooth headset, but it has a little something extra on the inside—storage. The on-board storage can be accessed via the USB adapter, which can also be used to charge the headset. The memory comes via a microSD card which has support for cards up to 8GB in size.

Aside from the available on-board storage, the BIZZ will also give you about 6 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby. It weighs just 10 grams and comes with four ear hooks in various sizes, but it can also be worn in the ear, without the ear hooks.

Sadly for those of us here in the US, the BIZZ will initially be launched only in the UK, it will retail for £40 (around $78).
